Andrey Nikolaev, General Director of "Optic fiber Systems" JSC, spoke at the CIPR 2024
On May 21, as part of the business program of the IX International conference "Digitalization of Industrial Russia", Andrey Nikolaev, General Director spoke at the plenary session "Digital homes: new standards of technologies and services".
The event was attended by representatives of key areas of the emerging smart home market in Russia, including "Optic fiber Systems" JSC.
The moderator was Deputy Minister of Digital Development of the Russian Federation Andrey Zarenin.
During the session, the participants discussed:
- what is a "Smart home" and what does it consist of;
- directions of development of the smart home market in Russia, the needed support and regulation;
- domestic services, solutions and elements of a Smart home.
In his report "Infrastructure of communication networks in digital homes: new standards" Andrey Nikolaev noted:
- Optical fiber remains the most modern and priority environment in the implementation of design solutions for in-house broadband Internet access.
- Today, Russia is below the global average level of optical fiber consumption per capita and is 3-4 times behind the leaders.
- Standardization is one of the effective tools for the development of modern communication networks and will allow achieving the indicators that Russia sets as national goals in 10 years.
- China's experience is indicative: the adoption of national standards in 2013 caused an explosive increase in fiber consumption: 2.4 times to 286 million km/year over the next 5 years. Andrey Nikolaev suggested evaluating the prospects of adapting modern PRC standards for digital apartment complex in the Russian Federation.
At the end of his speech, the speaker spoke about the status of the implementation of the project for the organization of a full cycle of optical fiber production. "The formation of a full technological cycle of optical fiber production in the Russian Federation will allow us to achieve the targets stated in the Development Strategy of the communications industry until 2035," said Andrey Nikolaev.

“Optic fiber Systems” JSC (www.rusfiber.ru) – is the first and the only Russian plant manufacturing optical fiber. The plant is situated in Saransk, Mordovia Republic. It was officially opened on 25 September 2015. The shareholders of the company are RUSNANO, Gazprombank and the Government of Mordovia Republic.
Optical fiber is the main component of optic cables for signal transmission in modern communication networks. Fiber is also used as a sensor for monitoring deformation, temperature, acoustics and other indicators.
"Optic fiber Systems" JSC produces telecommunication optical fibers of standards G652 and G 657 A1 including those with reduced diameter of 200 microns; provides services on optical fiber coloring and the application of ring marks "ringmarking". Optical fibers of new types such as G651 and G655 are being prepared for release. Products are certified in Russia and the quality is confirmed by "Rostelecom" PJSC, Russia's leading cable companies and foreign consumers.
According to the results of certification, optical fiber was approved for use on the networks of the largest Russian Telecom operators Rostelecom, MTS, MegaFon and others.
Manufacturing capacity of the plant is 4 mln kilometers of optical fiber per year.
