"Optic fiber Systems" JSC co-finances a research project in the optical fiber field
Optic fiber Systems JSC (further OVS) and the Photonics Department of the Institute of Science- based Technologies and New Materials of Ogarev Mordovia State University continue to develop cooperation in the field of education and research activities.
The company will take part in co-financing of a research project to develop methods for assessing the durability of paint coatings of telecommunication optical fiber at the OVS as part of the competition for intra-university scientific grants of Ogarev Mordovia State University.
Ekaterina Buzaeva - a young scientist, an engineer-researcher at the educational and scientific laboratory “Photonics: materials, devices, technologies” was appointed as a project manager.
The purpose of the scientific work is to develop a reference method for determining the abrasion resistance of paint coatings of telecommunication optical fibers produced by OVS when exposed to solvents and to determine the factors influencing the abrasion of paint and the appearance of certain types of defects in the paint coating.
General Director of Optic fiber Systems JSC Andrey Nikolaev: “We are always ready to support the initiatives of young scientists and consider it important to continue all possible support in the implementation of research projects in the field of optical fiber, which, in turn, are of great importance for the development of our industry. The results obtained during the implementation of the project are important for production of OVSand will be used to improve the quality of the finished product. For our part, we are fully ready to provide all possible methodological assistance and organizational support in the implementation of the project.”

“Optic fiber Systems” JSC (www.rusfiber.ru) – is the first and the only Russian plant manufacturing optical fiber. The plant is situated in Saransk, Mordovia Republic. It was officially opened on 25 September 2015. The shareholders of the company are RUSNANO, Gazprombank and the Government of Mordovia Republic.
Optical fiber is the main component of optic cables for signal transmission in modern communication networks. Fiber is also used as a sensor for monitoring deformation, temperature, acoustics and other indicators.
"Optic fiber Systems" JSC produces telecommunication optical fibers of standards G652 and G 657 A1 including those with reduced diameter of 200 microns; provides services on optical fiber coloring and the application of ring marks "ringmarking". Optical fibers of new types such as G651 and G655 are being prepared for release. Products are certified in Russia and the quality is confirmed by "Rostelecom" PJSC, Russia's leading cable companies and foreign consumers.
According to the results of certification, optical fiber was approved for use on the networks of the largest Russian Telecom operators Rostelecom, MTS, MegaFon and others.
Manufacturing capacity of the plant is 4 mln kilometers of optical fiber per year.
